माता जा की पार्वती पिता महादेवा।
To all the Ganesha devotees, prepare to offer your beloved deity his favorite offerings during the Vinayak Chaturthi Puja. This day is specifically dedicated to Lord Ganesha.
Ganesha is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Gana’, which means common people, and ‘Isha’ means the Lord. So, the whole name meaning translates as “The Lord of People." By worshipping Lord Ganesha, you can remove all your sorrows from life and gain immense strength.
Moreover, Ganesha is symbolized as the remover of obstacles from one’s life in different kriyas people do. So, always pray to the deity whenever you are off to some new work or even if you are on the edge of a mission completion. The elephant tusk trait signifies the Lord’s strength, power, and efficiency in providing his bhakts everything they desire.
Lord Ganesha’s Love For Sweets
When it comes to sweets, it’s the Lord Ganesha who can’t resist them. Especially the Modak sweet, which is made with different fillings such as jaggery, coconut, and other nuts. And when reminding about Ganesha’s love for sweets, there are multiple stories associated.
The Tale of Modak
It’s when Mata Parvati once made modak sweet, knowing that it was his son’s favorite. She placed the bowl of Modaks in front of his son Ganesha. But she asked him to solve a riddle first to eat his lovable sweet. However, Ganesha, who is the God of Wisdom, easily solves the riddle and earns the modaks that her mother prepares as his reward. This story teaches us that wisdom and devotion are rewarded with the sweetness in life.
Moon Curse Story
Once Ganesha had a hearty meal of modaks and was riding his mouse. He suddenly stumbled and fell. Watching this scene, the moon started laughing at him. Seeing that the moon mocked him, Ganesha was angered and cursed the moon to disappear forever.
Moon apologized and asked for forgiveness, so Ganesha softened the curse. He then declared that the moon would wax and wane every month but would also shine in its full glory once a month. So, to honor Ganesha’s humility and forgiveness, devotees offer modaks now to Ganesha during Vinayak Chaturthi.
The Laddoo Of Wisdom
Once there was a humble priest who lived in a small village. He was a devoted follower of Lord Ganesha; the priest was very poor and could barely afford to make offerings to Ganesha Ji. However, despite his poverty, he never wavered in making offerings to his beloved deity.
One day, a wealthy merchant visited the village and decided to host a grand feast in honor of Lord Ganesha. The entire village was invited to the feast and that priest too. While making offerings, the rich merchant offered a pile of laddoos to the Ganesha ji idol, but the priest could only offer a single laddoo, and that was also saved from his meager earnings.
The rich merchant, noticing the priest’s offering, said to the priest, “Do you think that Lord Ganesha will accept such a small offering from you?”
That night, Lord Ganesha came into the merchant’s dream and held the priest’s single ladoo in one hand and all the rich merchant’s ladoos in the other, symbolizing that true devotion and love is what counts, and it was present in the priest’s one ladoo and not in the bulk ladoos offered by the merchant.
The merchant then realized his mistake and the next day he went to the priest and asked for forgiveness. So, this tale teaches the lesson that true devotion is measured by the sincerity and the purity of the heart, not by material wealth or outward displays of luxury. So, remembering this story also, laddoo prasad is also offered to Ganpati ji on Vinayak Chaturthi.
However, besides just Modak or Laddoo, there are several offerings that our sweet-toothed deity likes, are:
Coconut
Cononut represents the ego and by offering coconut to Ganesha, one can symbolically break open their ego. The hard shell represents the challenges one faces and the inner fruit acknowledges the true heart of a person.
Durva Grass
Durva grass is a kind of sacred grass, highly loved by Lord Ganesha. It is often placed at the feet of the idol during worship. The devotees typically offer it in the bundles of 21 to the deity. While praying to Ganesha ji, you can also wear Ganesh Premium Rare Rudraksha so as to make your life ideal.
Banana
Banana is also loved by Lord Ganesha while worshipping. It is said that ripe bananas must be offered to him that come with vibrant color and natural sweetness. This symbolizes nourishment, fertility and prosperity in life.
Red Flowers
Lord Ganesha loves red flowers, especially hibiscus. These flowers are offered to him as a symbol of love and devotion. It is also considered a color of auspiciousness, energy and power.
In Conclusion
So, to bring sweetness into life, pray to the sweets-loving deity. It will definitely fulfill all your desires in life and will also bless you with a magical life full of happiness.
